Step 1: Topic Generation Prompt
Use when you need a topic idea. Run once and save the list.
I run a [business type] in [city]. My clients are [description —
e.g. "small business owners in Queensland who run trades businesses"].
Suggest 10 blog post topics that would:
1. Help my audience with a real problem or question
2. Be something I'm qualified to write about from experience
3. Be the kind of thing someone would type into Google
Focus on: questions my clients ask, mistakes I see often,
and how-to topics related to my services.
Format: numbered list. One topic per line.
Save the list. Circle the 3 most relevant to this week. Pick 1.
Step 2: Outline Generation Prompt
Use after picking your topic.
Write a blog post outline for the topic: "[your topic]".
Audience: [description — who reads this, what do they care about].
Include:
- A hook/intro angle (how to open the post)
- 4–5 main sections with 2–3 bullet sub-points each
- A conclusion section with a call to action
Format as a numbered outline. Be specific — not "Introduction"
as a section name, but what the intro should say and why.
Before you write: Review the outline. Add anything from your experience that’s missing. Remove anything that doesn’t match how you’d actually explain this topic. Reorder if needed. 5 minutes here saves 30 minutes later.
Step 3: Section-Writing Prompt
Use once per section. Paste your outline bullet points as the key points.
Write the "[section name]" section of a blog post about [topic].
Audience: [description].
Key points to cover:
- [Bullet 1 from your outline]
- [Bullet 2 from your outline]
- [Bullet 3 from your outline if applicable]
Tone: [practical / warm / conversational / direct — pick one].
Length: 150–200 words.
Write in first person as if I'm the business owner explaining this to a client.
After each section: Add at least one specific real detail — a client example, a local reference, a number from your experience, a product or tool you actually use. This is what makes AI-drafted content genuine.
Step 4: Polish Checklist
Complete before publishing. Read it top-to-bottom, not skipping.
Voice Check
- Read the entire post aloud
- Identify 3 sentences that sound robotic or too formal
- Rewrite those 3 sentences in your actual speaking voice
- Check for jargon your readers wouldn’t know — replace with plain English
Expertise Check
- At least one real example or client story per section (anonymised if needed)
- At least one specific detail that only someone with your experience would know
- No generic advice that could apply to any business in any city
Fact Check (Non-Negotiable)
- Every statistic verified against its original source
- Every date, price, or regulation referenced is current and accurate
- Any product or tool mentioned still exists and is available in Australia
- Nothing in the post is something you’d have to walk back if a client asked
Technical Check
- Image included (real photo from your business preferred over stock)
- Image has alt text (brief description for accessibility)
- One internal link added (to a service page, contact page, or other post)
- Meta description written (see prompt below)
- Post title includes the target keyword naturally
- URL slug is clean and includes the keyword (e.g.
/blog/hot-water-slow-heating)
Step 5: Meta Description Prompt
Run after the post is complete.
Write 3 meta description options for my blog post about [topic].
The post covers: [2-sentence summary of main points].
Target keyword: [keyword].
Requirements for each option:
- Under 155 characters (including spaces) — count carefully
- Include the target keyword naturally
- Include a benefit or result
- End with a soft action word if space allows ("read more," "learn how")
Make each option a different angle:
1. Benefit-led (focus on what the reader gains)
2. Question-led (pose the problem they're searching about)
3. Direct and clear (just tell them what's in the post)
Show character count in brackets after each.
Choose the option that sounds most like your business. Paste into your website’s SEO/meta settings.
The Fact-Check Habit
Every AI blogging session, before publishing:
What to always check:
- Any statistic with a number or percentage — Google the claim, find the original source
- Australian regulations, tax rules, or compliance information — verify against ATO, Fair Work, or the relevant government body
- Pricing mentioned for any product or service — check it’s current
- “Research shows…” or “Studies suggest…” — find the study, check it exists and says what AI claims
Quick verification method: Copy the claim into Google and add “site:.gov.au” or the relevant industry body’s site. If the claim doesn’t appear from a credible source within 60 seconds, rewrite it or remove it.
The rule: AI is responsible for the writing. You’re responsible for the truth.
